Located in southwestern Uganda within the Virunga Mountains, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is Uganda’s smallest national park and a vital habitat for the endangered mountain gorillas. The park protects three spectacular volcanic peaks Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo and forms part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area shared with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mgahinga is famous for unforgettable gorilla trekking experiences, as well as golden monkey tracking, scenic volcano hikes, and unique cultural encounters with the Batwa people. Its bamboo forests, montane vegetation, and volcanic landscapes support a rich variety of wildlife.
