Best Times to Visit Botswana
Botswana is a year-round destination, but the dry season (May to October) is the classic time for safari, when thinning vegetation and drying waterholes concentrate wildlife around permanent water, and the Okavango Delta paradoxically fills to its highest levels, making mokoro and boat trips at their best. June to August are the peak months, cool and dry with superb game viewing, though mornings can be genuinely cold. The green season (November to April) brings the rains, lush landscapes, newborn animals, spectacular birding and dramatically lower prices, and is the best time for the Kalahari and the Makgadikgadi zebra migration, though some Delta water activities depend on flood levels. Choose the dry season for classic big-game viewing, or the green season for value, birding and desert wildlife.
