Fly from Entebbe to Bwindi for a 5-day safari combining standard gorilla trekking and the Gorilla Habituation Experience, with up to four hours with mountain gorillas.
Day to day itinerary details
After breakfast, transfer to Entebbe International Airport for a scheduled flight to Kisoro Airstrip in southwestern Uganda. Enjoy aerial views of Uganda’s countryside and highlands before landing in Kisoro, where your guide will meet you and transfer you to your lodge in the Bwindi area. The rest of the day is at leisure as you settle in and prepare for your first gorilla trek. Meals: Lunch & Dinner
After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will then enter the forest with your ranger guide and trackers in search of a fully habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek duration varies depending on where the gorillas are located that morning. Once the family is found, you will spend up to one hour observing the gorillas as they feed, rest, groom and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-earned rest. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Enjoy a slower day between your two gorilla experiences. This day allows time to recover from the standard trek and prepare for the longer Gorilla Habituation Experience. Optional activities may include: Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
After an early breakfast, transfer to the designated briefing point for the Gorilla Habituation Experience. You will join ranger guides, trackers and researchers as they follow a gorilla family that is still becoming accustomed to human presence. Once the observation period begins, you can spend up to four hours with the gorillas. The longer encounter gives you more time to observe feeding, movement, family interactions and individual behaviour while gaining insight into the habituation process. This experience is especially rewarding for wildlife photographers and travellers who want a more immersive mountain gorilla encounter. Return to your lodge after the experience and enjoy your final evening in Bwindi.
After breakfast, transfer back to Kisoro Airstrip for your scheduled flight to Entebbe. Arrive in Entebbe for your onward international flight or an additional overnight stay. Meals: Breakfast & Lunch
