Day 2
Gorilla Trekking
On this 3-day Gorilla Trekking Safari in Rwanda, we’ll trek in Volcanoes National Park. We’ll head to the park office for a briefing before heading to the depths of the jungle for what is a unique wilderness experience. Thereafter, the rangers will walk you down the narrow forest paths through thick undergrowth. Once found, the rangers will brief us on the dos and don’ts before making any contact with the mountain gorillas.
We’ll spend up to 1 hour watching the gorillas in their natural habitat. We’ll get in proximity to the gorillas as you quietly observe them play, eat, forage, groom, sleep, and sometimes watch them mate. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will give us insights into the life of these gorillas and the social dynamics of the gorilla families. Gorilla watching also gives us a chance to observe the striking similarities between the apes with humans inhabit and social norms. Watch out for the juveniles who are always excited about our presence.
After trekking, we’ll break for lunch in the forest before embarking on the hike back to the starting point. After a long day’s trek, return to the lodge.
